New York Society for Ethical Culture Felix Adler Scholarship

Felix Adler, the founder of the Ethical Culture Movement, established an endowment specifically for the training of Ethical Culture Leaders.  Since the 1980's Ethical Culture Societies across the US have relied upon The Humanist Institute to train our Leaders.  The New York Society for Ethical Culture, which administers the Adler Endowment, is now making funds available up to $9,500 per class for Ethical Culture members to attend The Humanist Institute's 3 year training program.

 

AWARD DETERMINATION PROCESS

The New York Society for Ethical Culture's Endowment Committee determines awards based on the following criteria in no order of priority.

  • Personal and career goals and objectives
  • Length of time member of Ethical Culture
  • Extent of voluteer efforts on behalf of Ethical Culture Society or AEU
  • Leadership potential
  • Recommendations by an Ethical Culture Society Leader and/or President
  • Amount of other grants and scholarship awards

The decision of the committees are final upon approval by The New York Society for Ethical Culture Board of Directors.  The deliberations of the committee are considered personal and confidential.  The committee is not allowed to share information about an applicant or the committee's deliberations and decisions.

To be considered for the above, individuals need to have been accepted for enrollment to The Humanist Institute.  Applications and all supporting documents required for admissions to the Institute are available online or by contacting the Executive Director of The Humanist Institute at manager@humanistinstitute.org.
